The Dirac-Higgs Science Centre

Categories: Latest News School News

Professor Higgs attended Cotham where he was inspired by the work of another of our alumni, Paul Dirac, a founder of the field of quantum mechanics.

These two alumni are without doubt amongst the greatest physicists ever and you may have heard of the Higgs boson. This is one of the sub-atomic particles that the Hadron collider at CERN searches for and if it is found may result in Professor Higgs receiving a Nobel prize.

Professor Higgs unveiled a plaque and named our new Science facilities The Dirac Higgs Science Centre.

The visit was a lovely event and Professor Higgs spent a lot of time talking with students and staff who were hugely excited to have such an eminent scientist visit the school and we hope that these two famous alumni will inspire our students.
