Dear Parents and Carers,
On behalf of the Students, Staff and Governors, I take great pleasure in welcoming you to our website.
Cotham has an excellent reputation that has been created through the academic achievement of its students over many years. We have an outstanding examination record at GCSE and A Level, amongst the very best in the city. Our sixth form, the North Bristol Post 16 Centre, is a flourishing centre with over eight hundred students on academic programmes shared between Cotham and Redland Green School.
Through the consistently high achievements of our students we have High Performing Specialist Status. This enables us to have the additional specialism of Maths and Computing to complement our specialism in Performing Arts. We have a rich and varied provision of drama, dance and music and we believe that these areas are vital in developing the social, emotional and personal skills of our students. Maths is a very successful and innovative area that was a natural choice for our additional specialism due to its consistently high levels of achievement.
The school has benefited from considerable investment over the last few years and, most recently, from the Building Schools for the Future project. This brought an investment of twenty million pounds and has created new science laboratories, a new technology block, refurbished our main teaching areas and created better access across the site. The school is also benefiting from a considerable investment in its ICT provision.
As a school we have high expectations of our students and enable them to be not only academically successful but caring young people who are prepared to take on the responsibilities and opportunities of adult life.
The Governors, staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school and we believe that the achievement of children is greatly enhanced through participation with parents and the wider community. We value the quality of relationships that we build and we value the rich variety of backgrounds and experiences that our students bring to the school.
Thank you for visiting our website
