Gamma House Autumn Term

Gamma has had a fantastic start to this school year with many awards, competitions, events and celebrations. We have come together as a house to raise a great deal of money for charity which was one of our goals from last year. A massive thank you to all of the staff and students who have contributed to Gamma events, we are very grateful and are planning many more to come in the New Year!

We raised £167 in October by celebrating all things Spooky in our annual Spookfest event. This included a cake sale and apple bobbing competition. Students of all years go involved with this charity fundraising event which was brilliant to see.

Candy Cane Grams

With a special focus on Above and Beyond’s ‘National ‘Elf Service day’ we have been selling candy cane grams this last week in school. Students and staff have combined to send each other festive messages which has raised money for our charity as well as everyone’s spirits!

Gamma House Champion

This term we have had some very impressive Gamma House champions

  • September: Rylan Bawden- for impressive dedication to extra-curricular activities
  • October: Bryn Coates-Cook for being so helpful around school towards staff and students
  • November: Amy Howe- for her fundraising commitment and hard work in lessons.

Above and Beyond

We have established a brilliant connection to our new House charity which is Bristol’s own- Above and Beyond. Gamma welcomed Lydia McGivern from the charity into assembly to explain the work done to help local Bristol hospitals. Students heard how the charity goes above and beyond the provisions of the NHS to provide welcoming and comfortable environments for those suffering in our local hospitals. We are raising money throughout the year in order to fund a special project at the Children’s hospital which will be revealed at the end of the year.

School Council

Gamma is going to be responsible for discussing teaching and learning within our new School Council which everyone is very excited about. Our recent elections saw students from all years producing thorough and convincing manifestos with the successful representatives being-

  • Isla Tunstall
  • Freddie Aitken
  • Charlotte Omiotek
  • Rhys Harries
  • Danny Romero

Finally, a massive thank you to the Gamma student leadership- Mossy Price, Haddy Jamera, Danny Romero and Charlie Rose who have given up countless break and lunch times to help run Gamma house activities and events. They are an incredible asset to the school and should be very proud of themselves.

I wish everyone a peaceful, relaxing and joyous break.
