Delta Download #3

Our house assembly fell on ‘Blue Monday’ this year which in only one instance was rather apt (as our house colour is blue!) Students were asked to tell me what makes the 3rd Monday in January officially the most depressing day of the year and we aimed to spread only positive messages as we begun a new week.

The prefects have been encouraging us all to beat the January Blues this term. In our most recent house meeting our house captain Ali said that he wanted to do a cake sale. So the Delta Team along with some very lovely Year 11 students came together to get baking after school to produce some delicious cupcakes. These of course went down a treat and raised some money for our house charity, Off The Record.

Our House Heroes were revealed in our House Assembly by the Delta tutor team. Tutors were asked to nominate one student from their tutor group who cheers them up and helps them to beat the January Blues each day. Congratulations to...

7CCY- Nagiib

7ER- Sameer

7JOX- Abdul

8DS- Grace

8RBI- Nadra

9DU- Orla

9KM- Jess

10DD- Ahmad

10EM- Mike

11TS- Elliot

11SH- Mia

Each of the students were rewarded with a £5 gift voucher to spend at Cabot Circus. The students nominated treat others well so we wanted to allow them to treat themselves!

Inter-House Apprentice

The candidates have been whittled down week by week and heading into the final we have a showdown between Delta and Gamma. So far during the process students have demonstrated their creativity in creating their own chocolate bar, they’ve had to be on trend by designing a slogan T-shirt, made their own workout videos and were tasked with the Tenner Challenge.

Hannah, Amelia and Orla are in the process of finalising arrangements for the candidates to be put through their paces before the winning team is revealed. Remaining in the process are 2 x Year 8 Delta teams and 1 x Year 9 Gamma team.

In the absence of our prefect’s in house assembly we launched the recruitment process for the 2020-2021 cohort of prefects. Year 10 students are actively encouraged to apply for the valued position. Application forms are on the Year 10 Google Classroom page and paper copies are available from Miss McDonagh. Be brave Year 10, put yourself forward and be a role model for other students!

House Reps- A Doodle poll is live on our Google Classroom page ready for you to select which day of the week would be most suitable for you to meet.

    Social Media Project

The creative social media project got underway last Friday lunchtime. It was fantastic to see so many students keen to participate in the project beginning to explore relationships with social media. Due to the high numbers of Co-Researchers, students have put themselves into groups so that they can get the most from the project. Students will be notified of when their sessions are taking place during Friday lunchtimes.

    Delta Dazzler

This month the Delta House Dazzler award goes to a student who consistently leads by example each and every day. He is polite, friendly and demonstrates the Delta House values of kindness, being hardworking and being the best version of himself. I am immensely proud to have this student in Delta,  Josh Smith (9AWS) you are the Delta House Dazzler for January 2018. Congratulations!

    Delta House Reps

On Wednesday 24th January the House Reps had a meeting to feedback what tutor groups had said about how we can go about improving the behaviour and rewards system. The House Reps did a terrific job in feeding back their fellow tutees views and what was pleasing was the suggestions that were put forward that could make a positive difference to the whole school. Students were articulate and made some great suggestions that will be taken to the School Council.

    Tutor Tube Challenge

Well done to the mighty and generous 7PPR for being the first tutor group to fill up their tube and return it. They, along with 10CCY enjoyed some sweet treats to say thank you for donating their spare change towards Off The Record. A huge well done and thank you to the lovely 8DD who also filled up their tube.
