Cotham School

Library

All students and staff are automatically members of our library. Our library opened on the 2 October 1998, and is a space for staff and students to read, research and learn. The Study Hub (Reference Library) is also available for Post-16 students at the North Bristol Post-16 Centre.

Ethos

The library is a peaceful place to allow everyone to work or read without distraction. Students are encouraged to visit the library at break, lunch and after school. The library is a welcoming space where everyone is expected to be polite, kind and treat each other with respect.

The library aims to be a whole school resource, providing materials for all aspects of school work as well as for personal interests and recreational reading. Our library resources include 27,000 books (fiction and information books), magazines, and small collections of DVDs and audio books. We subscribe to a variety of online resources to support teaching and learning. We also run a stationery shop where you can buy paper, pens, calculators, USB sticks and other items.

The library positively encourages reading for pleasure. The Library Staff are always happy to help you to find the right book for you. If you would like to suggest a new book for the library please speak to one of the Library Staff

AccessIt

Accessit is where you can search the library catalogue to see what books we have in stock, check your account, and reserve a book if it’s out to another reader. You can also write reviews of books once you have finished reading them. AccessIt is available as a mobile app - please ask the Library staff for details.

AccessIt

We are very proud of our two first edition copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone which are displayed in a cabinet in the Main Library. They are very rare!
