Cotham School

Reading, Writing and Oracy at Cotham

Reading, Writing and Oracy are central to Cotham School’s curriculum because as foundational and disciplinary skills they underpin successful learning across every subject. Strong literacy enables students to access complex ideas, communicate clearly, think critically and develop independence. As a result, the focus on skills for reading, writing and oracy are embedded into every lesson, not just the English curriculum.

Together, these skills support academic achievement, enrich students’ wider experiences and equip them to participate confidently and successfully in school, work and society.
