Spanish Cultural Exchange 2018
In the last week of February, 15 A level students in Year 12 and 13 spent 5 days totally immersed in Spanish culture whilst staying with families in Tres Cantos, just north of Madrid. During that time, we explored the capital city, testing churros con chocolate and tapas en route, cycling along Madrid Rio to see Goya frescoes, seeing Picasso’s famous Guernica painting in the Reina Sofía museum, the palace of El Escorial and the Valle de los Caídos which all help to bring the A level course to life…
Every evening and at the weekend, students spent time with their respective Spanish host families and were treated to exciting trips and experiences including lots of new food, a Real Madrid football match, Madrid and cinema trips and visits outside the city to towns like Segovia. The Spanish families and school were amazing hosts, and the trip has had a very positive impact on all students involved. All of them made me very proud! We look forward to welcoming our partners back here in Bristol from 11-16 April and - and several members of the group are already planning to return in the summer to see their Spanish families again!
