Cotham - Tres Cantos - Spanish Cultural Exchange 16-20 April 2018
April saw the return visit, involving 17 Post 16 Centre students, of the Spanish Cultural Exchange to Bristol.
After visiting Madrid in February for 5 days of sunshine, we collected our Spanish exchange partners at midnight on Weds 16th in the freezing British rain! Over the next 5 days, the rain (mostly) held off and we gave our guests the true Bristol experience; walking miles up and down hills - from the suspension bridge to the docks, round the city’s best graffiti hotspots (including a workshop to make their own masterpieces), and Bath to see the baths and have an English afternoon tea (complete with pigeon attack)...
Over the weekend students were with their host families and experienced all sorts, from Clevedon, fish & chips and Airhop… to Stonehenge, the SS Great Britain and a Bristol Rovers match. There were emotional scenes outside Charnwood when the Spanish students had to leave as some very strong friendships have been made and summer reunions planned. I would like to say a BIG gracias to all the families involved - It really has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm generated by this adventure in all students who took part. V proud :)
We look forward to expanding the trip next year to Year 10 students studying Spanish for GCSE.
