Raising Aspirations Event - Wed 25 January
Over 200 Year 9 students went to this very successful event at UWE Exhibition Centre where they had the opportunity to explore future possibilities and careers.
After a motivational keynote speaker called Cameron Parker, there were 4 main activities:
- Higher Education session - where students had the chance to question student ambassadors from UWE.
- Post-16 and training provider workshops - 2 shorter sessions with a sixth-form or college and a training provider - where students learnt about Post-16 courses and apprenticeships.
- Employability session - where civil servants from various government departments led activities about their work, what employers look for in young people and the skills they will need in the world of work.
- Business workshops - 2 shorter sessions where students took part in talks and hands-on activities with a range of employers, including the NHS, Airbus, Boomsatsuma, Avon & Somerset Police and Burges Salmon.
The students engaged well and seemed to enjoy the day and we hope they left feeling inspired to make aspirational choices for their own futures.
